FAQs

Frequently Asked
Questions

What if there is no sun, will I still have electricity supply?

Yes you will. Our system is grid-tied, meaning the solar system works seamlessly together with the power grid. i.e. when there is insufficient solar power, power will be drawn from the power grid, and when there is excess solar power, the excess will be fed into the power grid. All this works seamlessly and you will have no interruption to your power.

Is it worth it to install a solar system on my roof?

Yes it is. The cost of solar electricity generated is less then what you pay to the power grid. The ROI and payback period varies as different sites have different installation conditions. If you are keen, do contact us for a consultation & site survey where our engineers & trained professionals will help do an assessment of your facility.

Is my roof suitable to install solar panels?

Solar can be deployed on most roofs, typically metal & concrete roofs. Roofs with minimal to no shade (caused by trees or other tall buildings etc.) and large empty space is generally preferred. Do contact us for a site assessment to be sure.

Do I need any permits or licenses to install solar?

Yes you do. Million Solar will take care of all applications for regulatory permits and licenses needed.

What is the lifespan of a solar system?

A well designed & installed solar system should last for 20-25 years. Solar Panels themselves usually come with a 10-12 year product warranty and a 20-25 year power degradation warranty.

What are the maintenance requirements of a solar system.

Solar systems require very minimal maintenance. Basic surface cleaning of the panels and inspection of electrical connections & structures are sufficient once every 6 months. Online monitoring of the system will give alerts if there are any faults in the system.

Will the solar installation damage my roof?

No it would not. Most installations would not cause any penetration to the roof itself. Furthermore, prior to installation, we would first determine the suitability of the roof condition together with a licensed QP. During installation, we would ensure that the panels are properly and safely installed according to the site conditions.

Do I need batteries together with the solar system.

Battery Solar PV systems are usually considered in rural places where there is no power grid infrastructure. In Singapore or other places where there is a robust power grid system, there is typically no need to install batteries. Grid-tied solar PV systems are the most cost effective way to deploy solar in such areas.
